Spirent TestCenter: What is the use of interval field in configuring Synchronous and Asynchronous mode under traffic tab in settings?
Environment/Versions
Port Send Mode
Answer
Synchronous
All port analyzers start at same moment (+/- 10 ns).
Even though they are ready to transmit, we can choose whether to start them at the same offset or at defined intervals.
If we need defined intervals, we make use of the “interval” field.
Asynchronous
For continous type emission all ports start as soon as possible, there is no control over the interval between the starting offsets of different ports. They start traffic whenever they are ready to transmit.
For timed type emission the start was synched but an enhancement was done and now it is best effort as seen in attached document. (no control over interval)
